Wes is a long-time Charleston resident who studied photography and print making under Norman LoRusso in Mt. Pleasant. He began his photography career in the late 90’s shooting for commercial and fine art markets. His most recent work explores abstractions created by extreme narrow focus over various depths and through a variety of focal lengths.
“I’m experimenting with critical focus in narrow depths of field to create images with focal depth. In my new pieces, a narrow field of focus throws the majority of the image into varying levels of soft focus. This produces abstraction and engages the eye to complete those elements of the image that are only partially realized. I hope these new images will allow the viewer to see and explore ordinary subjects in a new way. ”
