All power is within you; you can do anything and everything.
― Swami Vivekananda

Once upon a time, a crazy idea and a bit of boredom inspired me to go swimming during a hurricane. I don't recommend this exercise to everyone, but the pictures I created sparked a new series of explorations in the ocean. I started photographing the surfers. These repeated sunrise adventures in the ocean sparked a transformation, not only in images, but in understanding of life and happiness and being. This transition toward an enlightened outlook then also began impacting the imagery. All of a sudden the images were not just a recording of time, space, and place, but most importantly, heart. The collection of fine art images released here represent some of my favorite expressions, and adventures.

All of these moments were recorded along the coast of Charleston, SC.

BIO
John Gaulden’s works transcend the line between documentary and editorial. His photographs offer a unique blend of beautifully captured light, color, and life. Creative as a child, access to his fathers old cold metal Nikon cameras sparked a passion for recording all of life's greatest adventures through photography. While at Winthrop, John studied film under Mark Hamilton. After moving to Charleston, SC a few years later, he found new inspiration in the journalistic teachings of Mikayla Mackaness and artistic interpretations of John Duckworth. He still resides in Charleston where he regularly produces new bodies of work.
