Ed Boudolf

Charleston-based, self-taught, anything to do with water. Growing up in Charleston, Boudolf always spent time on the water. Stemming from his past professional work as a surfboard designer and painter, Boudolf now begins his experimentation with paint on canvas.

"Later I learned to professionally build surfboards. They are a very unique medium unto themselves. Airbrushing, shaping and making all kinds of mess with fiberglass and resin is the day to day business of a surfboard factory. Now  I’m learning about paint as a medium. I just completed adding a studio on to my house. It has great natural light and is good place to create and make a mess. I find fluctuating between precision and abandon yield the best results."
